We were happy to be able to support Frederick Saulich during his second research stay the the Sattler Lab at the TUM in Munich and were excited to read his experience report.

I previously had the privilege of receiving a travel grant from IZ-LIST for a research stay in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Michael Sattler at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), specifically at the Bavarian NMR Center within the Institute of Structural Biology at Helmholtz Munich. Unfortunately, due to several experimental challenges, I was unable to complete all of the work originally planned during my first stay. I was therefore very grateful to be awarded a second travel grant, which allowed me to complete the remaining experiments and, in addition, to investigate structural changes in my key protein and its known interaction partners.
The travel grant provided by IZ-LIST significantly reduced the financial burden of the research stay by covering my accommodation costs during the six weeks in Munich. During this time, I was also able to further deepen my knowledge of NMR spectroscopy and protein purification. In addition, the collaborative environment at the BNMRZ provided valuable opportunities to exchange ideas with researchers from different disciplines and to strengthen scientific connections that may develop into future collaborations.'
Overall, the research stay at the BNMRZ considerably broadened both my methodological expertise and my understanding of structural biology approaches. The experience and skills I gained will directly benefit my current research and provide a valuable foundation for future scientific projects. I am therefore very grateful to IZ-LIST for making this extended research stay possible and for giving me the opportunity to complete and further expand this part of my PhD project.
